Tabbed notebook and personal information manager, with tree structure and strong encryption. Open source.
NeoMem allows you to store and organize all kinds of information in a cross between a word processor and database. The interface is similar to Windows Explorer, except that instead of dealing with files on a hard disk you deal with objects in a file.
It can be used to store to do lists, books, website passwords, addresses, account information, and collections of all kinds. You can define your own classes for items that you want to store information about, and define properties for those objects. Each object can also store formatted text in a simple word processor view.
a note pad with a treeview, can create folders and link to other files too! Both a paid and lite versions.
Some would call TreeLine an Outliner, others would call it a PIM. Basically, it just stores almost any kind of information. A tree structure makes it easy to keep things organized. And each node in the tree can contain several fields, forming a mini-database. The output format for each node can be defined, and the output can be shown on the screen, printed, or exported to html.
In different versions, I use the lite version which is freeware
Simple desktop notes prog, very simple but with much mark-up options, very usefull
"NoteCase is a hierarchical note manager (aka. outliner). It helps you organize your everyday text notes into a single document, with individual notes placed in the tree-like structure (each note can have its sub-notes, ...). To ensure your privacy, encrypted document format is supported, along with standard unencrypted format. Project is free and open source (released under BSD license)."
Pick your image type, fill in the blanks to make your words/slogan show up in images using these freeware Web 2.0 applications (no-install, web based apps). Great for creating your own free clipart to use on your site or blog. Thousands of image designs to choose from.
nice three pain note taking program with free and paid versions. Also has a tree view and the ability to create folders and add attachments to notes.
It's not free, but I find it to be the most useful in the two-pane outliners out there. I really like that you can add custom attributes for each note and the powerful text editor.
One of the best outlners for the Macintosh. Great user's inteface ; can be used as a writing tool (supports folding of items) and much more.
Quick, easy to use, much more than a diary and completely free.
Outliner that has been embraced by us tablet users. Free version available.
NoteKeeper is a multi-functional hierarchical information manager. Many notes and images can be stored within a single NoteKeeper file and can be grouped into flexible virtual folders enabling easy, intuitive access at all times. Think of it as an electronic scrapbook - one which includes compression, encryption, text editing, and simple organisation. Some suggested uses are: homework/coursework organiser, journal/diary, digital photo album. Strong encryption is now included to keep your data away from prying eyes.
Express Notes lets you store and organize notes on your computer. Typically this software is used as a phone or address book, diary or card file but it can be used for just about anything. Some examples include todo lists, recipes, customer records and more. It is as easy to use and as flexible as a paper cardfile but by using your PC you can search, order and organize notes faster.

not free but after a couple hours of surfing, installing, uninstalling I'm going to stick with this one for a while. It is very "heavy" but easy to hide all but necessary functionality.
A powerful way to manage your tasks, ideas, and projects in structured lists. Simple to use and customizable to the way you work and best of all its completely FREE.
"ZuluPad is a notepad on crack. It's a place to jot down class notes, appointments, to-do lists, favorite websites, pretty much anything you can think of. The great thing about ZuluPad is that it combines the best parts of a notepad with the best parts of a wiki..."
Open source note/thought/task manager. Supports slicing information in a wide variety of ways: hierarchical trees, tags, numeric tags, and so on...
Easily create outlines on the web using just a browser.
Lightweight, open source, rich text, two-pane outliner for windows.
This is the best and most natural outliner that I have tried. You can paste ANY type of content. You can search your notes, mark them up and flag them. The next version (OneNote 2007 ) will even make text in pictures searchable.
