Baldur's Gate is a popular series of computer role-playing games that take place on Faerûn, the main continent from Dungeons & Dragons's Forgotten Realms campaign setting, set in the years following the cataclysmic Time of Troubles (1358 DR).
Ultima is a series of fantasy computer role-playing games from Origin Systems, Inc.. Ultima was created by Richard Garriott, a.k.a. Lord British. Several games of the series are considered seminal games of their genre.
Fallout is a computer role-playing game produced by Tim Cain and published by Interplay in 1997. Although set in the late 22nd century, its story and artwork are heavily influenced by the post-World War II nuclear paranoia of the 1950s.
The Elder Scrolls (also called simply Elder Scrolls) is a computer role-playing game series developed by Bethesda Softworks. It is often abbreviated TES. The four main Elder Scrolls games, Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion are known for their open-ended gameplay and their huge environment.
Planescape: Torment is a computer role-playing game (CRPG) which takes place in the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Planescape campaign setting, released in 1999. It was developed by Black Isle Studios (closed in late 2004), with its design team being lead by Chris Avellone (now of Obsidian Entertainment).
Diablo has been my favorite since its release in 1996.
Dungeon Master and its sequels are computer role playing games developed by FTL —Faster Than Light— (Software Heaven). Back in 1987, Dungeon Master revolutionized the genre as it was the first real time computer role playing game with a 3D view and mouse control. The series include the following games: Dungeon Master, Chaos Strikes Back, Dungeon Master II, Theron's Quest, Dungeon Master Nexus.
