Sotheby's is the Grandmother of all art auctions - they were founded in 1744 and have managed to bring their history into the 21st century with their website. Their prices are not for the faint of heart - but then again, it's not just any ole art you will find on the auction block there...lots of old masters, important collections and the like. If you have beaucoup de monnaie to spend, and want to do that in style, Sotheby's should most definitely be at the top of your list.

Christie's is definitely one of the best auction houses online, but also not with prices for the common portmonnaie - here too you will find fine art of the finest art, old masters, huge collections, and national treasures. No wonder they can boast being the world's leading auctioneers... Their prices range from $200 to $80 Million. Time to sell the farm to buy some art!

Artelino specializes in art auctions for Japanese art prints. They've been online since 2001. To sell, you must ship your item to artelino, they list it and sell it for you, and then charge a commission from both seller and buyer. If you are into Japanese prints, this is probably the place to go.

There are no commissions or membership fees, and they seem to have hundreds, if not thousands of real artists selling their work there. They make a point of not allowing cheap mass produced art on the site, so it's nice to see that they actually are making an effort to keep up the value of real art. Oh, and they don't ask for credi t car d information, which i find very assuring.

Boesner is one of the best wholesale art supply stores in Germany. They don't only sell in bulk however, butyou do need to be a business owner to shop there. It's like a candy store for any artist - i spent hours there, and of course, never did manage to leave empty-handed. they have an online store, but not quite sure how the shipping thing is handled by them.
